Logroño makes you feel like walking. The Way of St James (El camino de Santiago) and the four monumental churches mark the outline of the old town, which is dotted with old underground cellars that were built hundreds of years ago.

Riojatrek provides you with some suggestions about how to discover Logroño surrounded by the echo of the pilgrims and the aromas of Laurel Street:

Guided trip around Logroño’s old town

When you visit the Old Town, you will find yourself walking along streets that form part of the Way of St James (Camino de Santiago), as well as the four monumental churches that stand majestically in the capital of La Rioja.

Church of Santiago el Real

Let’s take a walk around the “cube” (the fortified wall) and the gate of the Revellín, the parliament of La Rioja, the church of Santiago el Real, the imperial church of Santa María de Palacio, the palace of the Marqueses de Monesterio, the church of San Bartolomé, Portales Street, the palace of the chapiteles, the co-cathedral of La Redonda and the plaza del Mercado.

Panoramic view of Logroño

If the group is travelling by coach, the panoramic visit will allow us to get to know some of the most emblematic wineries of the city, such as the Marqués de Murrieta or the Darien Wineries.

We will also take a walk along the main arteries of the cities which will lead us to the football stadium of Las Gaunas, the sports centre, the University of La Rioja, the Riojaforum congress palace, and the shopping centres of the city. Nearly all the old town is for pedestrians, which means the best way to visit it is on foot.
